Etiwanda is a perfect 10-0 against Los Osos since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Eagles will host the Grizzlies at 3:15 p.m. Etiwanda is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Etiwanda barely beat Upland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 14-7 margin over the Highlanders/Scots on Monday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Highlanders/Scots recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Alyssa Galindo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Dailynn Battee and Frankie Nevarez did most of the damage at the plate: Battee got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Nevarez got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Nevarez has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Gutierrez, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Etiwanda lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Los Osos was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They lost 11-2 to Upland.
Los Osos saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Chung, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.
Etiwanda pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Los Osos, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10-1 record this season.
Everything went Etiwanda's way against Los Osos when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Etiwanda made off with a 7-1 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
