Even though the East Ridge Knights scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, the Hope Academy Trojan Tigers still came out on top. Hope Academy walked away with a 71-61 victory over East Ridge. Given Hope Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while East Ridge is ranked 637th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dwayne Foreman III continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with six steals. He hasn't dropped below 15points for 16 straight games. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Boyer, who scored 13 points along with five assists and three steals.
Despite the loss, East Ridge had strong showings from Jordan Corman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Nicholas Vazquez, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. That was a full 34.4% of East Ridge's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Roberto Alvarez was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds.
Hope Academy's victory bumped their record up to 16-6. As for East Ridge, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hope Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Horizon at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Horizon is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for East Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on Legacy Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Legacy Charter has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
