Austin Lee and Addison Johnson provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Lake City. The longest such play in 5A Inland Empire this season, the connection resulted in 78 yards.
Coeur d'Alene extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Timberwolves, 44-13. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Coeur d'Alene's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Lee threw for 101 and 1 touchdown and Johnson had 102 yards receiving. On the ground Gibson Green contributed 68 yards. Ryan Walde helped Coeur d'Alene's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 62 yards.
Gunnar Amos was a passing and rushing force as Shawn Amos' team topped Lake City. He completed 10 passes for 152 yards and also ran for 13 yards. Amos' favorite target this week was Johnson, who caught 4 passes for 102 yards.
Green was the best running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 68 yards as the Vikings topped Van Troxel's team. Teammate Drew Berger added to the ground attack by rushing for 49 yards.
Coeur d'Alene's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Vikings feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Amos has thrown for 2,120 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while Johnson has 31 catches for 549 yards.
The marquee game in 5A Inland Empire this week will be the clash between Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls. The Vikings enters the contest ranked fourth in the state, while the Trojans ranks 16th.
Post Falls was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, Jeff Hinz's team defeated Lewiston 49-42.
