Given Greer Middle College's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Liberty is ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Liberty's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dawson Owen, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Mable, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Greer Middle College has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Liberty, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15.
Greer Middle College will head out on the road to face off against Chesnee at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Chesnee's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 13 games. As for Liberty, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Greenville Tech Charter at 7:30 p.m. Greenville Tech Charter is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
