The West Lauderdale Knights had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against Amory by a score of 14-7 on Friday. The win was nothing new for West Lauderdale as they're now sitting on eight straight.
K.p Peoples was his usual excellent self, rushing for 119 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Peoples really tore up the turf during one magnificent 84-yard run.
Despite the loss, Amory still got an impressive performance from Emmanuel Randle, who rushed for 148 yards on only 15 carries. Randle has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last eight times he's played.
West Lauderdale's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Amory, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.
West Lauderdale will square off against Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Houston is ranked 24th, while West Lauderdale is ranked 35th). Amory does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
