Dock Mennonite has gone a perfect 10-0 against Delaware County Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Dock Mennonite's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Calvary Christian Academy 20-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pioneers.
Dana Delamater made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Delamater was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Dock Mennonite got a massive performance out of Avery Kutzner, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Kutzner's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nora Osifchin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Dock Mennonite always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Delaware County Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss. They came up short against Calvary Christian Academy, falling 10-0. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Delaware County Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maryn D'Antonio, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Dock Mennonite's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Delaware County Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-18.
Delaware County Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Dock Mennonite has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Delaware County Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 2.5 strikeouts. Will Dock Mennonite keep running through batters, or will the Knights buck the trend?
Dock Mennonite took their win against Delaware County Christian in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 16-2 score.
