The Austin Maroons fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Anderson Trojans on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. Austin just can't catch a break and has now endured five losses in a row.
Samir Kassam and Maverick Larson certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Kassam scored eight points along with six assists and six rebounds, while Larson scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Baur Lloyd was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Austin has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Anderson, their win bumped their record up to 6-20.
Austin will look to defend their home court on Friday against Dripping Springs at 8:00 p.m. Dripping Springs is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games. As for Anderson, they will head out on the road to face off against Bowie at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Bowie presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Anderson in Texas (Bowie is ranked 114th, while Anderson is ranked 735th).
