Russell Christian Academy extended the longest winning streak in MAIS A District 5 (8 Man) this week by beating Sharkey Issaquena Academy, 53-14. The win marks 11th in a row for the the Warriors.
Calhoun Academy took down Briarfield Academy 44-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Russell Christian Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Warriors feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jacob Howse has thrown for 1162 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, while Ben McGraw has 13 catches for 414 yards. Arik Washington leads the league in rushing with 1119 yards.
The Cougars' Danny Joe Norman needs only 83 yards against Clinton Christian Academy next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Norman has rushed for 917 yards on 99 carries so far this year.
Russell Christian Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 205 from 277. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 53-14 victory over the Confederates last week.
