Kelsie Salter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Emmie Dawley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Lovie Bautista also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Even though they lost, Sandalwood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mandarin struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Fletcher was able to grind out a solid win over Fernandina Beach on Thursday, taking the game 10-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Senators.
Monike Priebe made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Fletcher got a big performance out of Haley Phillips, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Ava Lowman was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5.
Sandalwood's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Fletcher, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Sandalwood couldn't quite get it done against Fletcher in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can Sandalwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
