The Tocoi Creek Toros will head out on the road to face off against the Nease Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Tocoi Creek made off with a 29-28 win over Flagler Palm Coast. The win was just what Tocoi Creek needed coming off of a 38-6 defeat in their prior contest.
Ryan Killmer was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Vincent Galella and his 121 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Tocoi Creek's victory.
Nease fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They slipped by Ponte Vedra 24-23 on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given Nease's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Ponte Vedra is ranked 41st).
Among those leading the charge was Bryce Frick, who threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Brayden Felder was another key contributor, picking up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Tocoi Creek now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Nease, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Tocoi Creek was dealt a bruising 47-17 defeat at the hands of Nease in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Can Tocoi Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
