The New Bremen Cardinals will challenge the Tri-Village Patriots at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. New Bremen has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with six straight losses, while Tri-Village will come in with 18 straight victories.
Shawnee hit New Bremen with a four-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cardinals lost 9-2 to the Indians.
Olivia Thornton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tri-Village). They put the hurt on National Trail with a sharp 23-1 win on Wednesday. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by nine runs or more this season.
Addy Wright was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Wright was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Camryn Osborne was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Tai Mize, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Tri-Village kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.
Tri-Village's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for New Bremen, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. New Bremen has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tri-Village struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
New Bremen might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Tri-Village when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
