The Meridian Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of High Plains by a score of 72-70. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead High Plains to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brodey Spurling, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Carter Urkoski was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.
Meridian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for High Plains, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meridian will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against High Plains on January 30th. As for High Plains, they will take on Elba at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Elba is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
