The Summit Academy Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 68-45 defeat at the hands of North Summit. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Summit Academy in their matchups with North Summit: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Summit Academy still got an impressive performance from Avery Backus, who scored 16 points along with 7 assists and 5 steals. Backus scored a full 35.6% of Summit Academy's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kita Holmes, who scored 12 points along with 3 blocks.
North Summit's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hartlynn Richins, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 10 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Chezlie Langston, who scored 20 points along with 5 assists.
Summit Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for North Summit, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summit Academy will square off against Kearns at 7:00 p.m. on December 7th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Kearns is ranked 94th, while Summit Academy is ranked 100th). As for North Summit, they will head out on the road to face off against Delta at 11:10 a.m. on Friday.
