Softball Game Preview: Plymouth Whitemarsh Colonials vs. Upper Dublin Cardinals

Plymouth Whitemarsh has gone 8-2 against Upper Dublin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Colonials will face off against the Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. Plymouth Whitemarsh is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Upper Dublin will be up against a hot Plymouth Whitemarsh squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Colonials walked away with a 5-2 win over Mt. St. Joseph Academy on Monday.

Madison Moran made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Moran wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rian Reed, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Those three hits gave Reed a new career-high. Anna Powel was another, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Plymouth Whitemarsh hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive contests.

Bayard Rustin typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Upper Dublin proved too difficult a challenge. They never let the Golden Knights get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory.

Upper Dublin has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Plymouth Whitemarsh, their record now sits at 13-6.

Plymouth Whitemarsh came out on top in a nail-biter against Upper Dublin in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonials since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
