It was a good run, but the Jonesboro Cardinals unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a hard 75-59 fall against North Oconee. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Jonesboro still got an impressive performance from Montez Redding, who scored 30 points. The matchup was Redding's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Cortez Redding was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven assists.
Jonesboro's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for North Oconee, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jonesboro will face off against Hampton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Oconee, they will head out on the road to face off against Elbert County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Elbert County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 461st, while North Oconee is ranked 40th).
