Cassandra Sanchez spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, St. Joseph Notre Dame got a massive performance out of Ella Schwartz, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Schwartz launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Roben, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
St. Joseph Notre Dame hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, California School for the Deaf made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lick-Wilmerding on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers stepped up to hand the Tigers a 16-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
St. Joseph Notre Dame's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for California School for the Deaf, their record now sits at 12-1.
