The Central Cabarrus Vikings will venture away from home to  challenge the West Rowan Falcons  at 5:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (Central Cabarrus 3.8, West Rowan 3.2) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
Last Tuesday, Central Cabarrus made easy work of Lake Norman Charter  and carried off  a  13-1 win. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive  victory against them.
 Sophia Wellons and  Haley Rezy did most of the damage at the plate:  Wellons  went a perfect 2-for-2 with two  runs, one  triple,  and two  RBI, while  Rezy  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most  hits  Rezy has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was  Peyton Smith, who  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 Central Cabarrus was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .385. They are 7-1 when  they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, West Rowan faced South Caldwell in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Falcons fell just short of the Spartans by a score of  12-11. The Falcons' loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
  Riley Hagaas stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she fired off two  home runs and four  RBI while going 2-for-4.  EA Nance was another key player,  going 3-for-4 with one  home run, two  RBI,  and one  double.
 West Rowan's defeat dropped their record down to 15-3. As for Central Cabarrus, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
