The Rockwood Rockets came into Friday's matchup having lost 16 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took down Meyersdale 54-38 on Friday. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Rockwood has managed all season.
Rockwood was led to victory by Zander Ritenour and Christian Schrock. Ritenour scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Schrock dropped a double-double on 19 points and 20 rebounds. Schrock also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Riley Fazenbaker, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meyersdale lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carter Vogt, who scored 11 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Hainsworth, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Rockwood's win ended a 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-13. As for Meyersdale, their loss was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-17.
Rockwood will take on the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Shanksville Stonycreek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Saturday. As for Meyersdale, they will head out on the road to take on the Rams at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Turkeyfoot Valley Area is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
