The Kellogg Wildcats's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Freeman Scotties at 3:30 p.m. on December 28th. Hopefully Kellogg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday.
Kellogg has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season. They ended the year with a bang, routing Non Varsity Opponent 57-35.
Kellogg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Macy Jerome, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. Jerome set a new season high mark in steals with five. Emily Coe was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Freeman was able to grind out a solid win over Royal on Wednesday, taking the game 54-44.
Freeman relied on the efforts of Natalie Semprimoznik, who scored 14 points, and Taylee Phelps, who scored 20 points. The match was Phelps' ninth in a row with at least ten points.
Kellogg's record now sits at 6-4. Freeman's record now sits at 4-5.
Thursday's contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Kellogg hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.3 points per game. It's a different story for Freeman, though, as they've been averaging only 46.7 points per game. The only thing between Kellogg and another offensive beatdown is Freeman. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Kellogg was dealt a bruising 57-28 defeat at the hands of Freeman when the teams last played back in December of 2019. Can Kellogg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
