Oak Ridge and Rocklin are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Trojans will host the Thunder at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Oak Ridge 2.9, Rocklin 1.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Oak Ridge heads into the game have just come up short against nationally ranked Ponderosa (Oak Ridge was ranked 30th at the time). The Trojans fell in a 3-1 heartbreaker to the Bruins. The Trojans just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.
Kennedi Freeland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Oak Ridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gemma Almont, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Rocklin got themselves on the board against Davis Sr. on Monday, but Davis Sr. never followed suit. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Blue Devils. The Thunder haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Not much got past Payton Prior, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Davis Sr. off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sammie Snell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Renee Dragseth, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Rocklin's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Oak Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Oak Ridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rocklin struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Oak Ridge got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Rocklin by a conclusive 7-0 score. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Thunder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
