The South Charlotte T Thunder have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Covenant Classical on Tuesday and snuck past 49-46.
Leading South Charlotte T to victory were Bella Aitchison and Ryleigh Graves. Aitchison scored 20 points along with five rebounds, while Graves dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Aitchison has scored all season. Olivia Reeves was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Covenant Classical lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jacie Kirwin, who scored 19 points. That was a full 41.3% of Covenant Classical's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Gromis, who scored 14 points.
South Charlotte T's win bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Covenant Classical, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Charlotte T will take on Legion Collegiate Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully South Charlotte T focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday. As for Covenant Classical, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Varsity Opponent at 6:30 p.m.
