The Douglas County Huskies's found some homefield redemption this week after a tough overtime loss to the Vista Ridge Wolves on Thursday. Douglas County walked away with a 67-54 win over Ponderosa. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Douglas County also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
It was another big night for Sofia Baldessari, who scored 43 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Megan Thorne, who scored six points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Ponderosa lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maddison Neale. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 2 assists. Neale is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last six games she's played. Miale Ames was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Douglas County pushed their record up to 9-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Ponderosa, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
Douglas County will head out on the road to challenge Rock Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rock Canyon is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games. As for Ponderosa, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Regis Jesuit at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
