If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Poteau. On Thursday they take on Central at 7:00 PM. Central will need to watch out since Poteau have now posted big point totals in their last five contests.
Last Friday, Poteau put the finishing touches on their 4th blowout victory of the season. They steamrollered Fort Gibson 43-6. No one put up better numbers for Poteau than junior Easton Francis, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 145 yards and 2 touchdowns. This marked the 4th match in which Francis has rushed for over 100 yards.
Meanwhile, Central have had to suffer through a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Muldrow by a score of 32-24. The team accrued the bulk of their points in the first half (26) and coasted on those for the win.
Their wins bumped Central to 1-3 and Poteau to 5-0. Central's offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Poteau defensive front that amassed four sacks against Fort Gibson, so we'll see if they are up to the task.
