5A District 15 recap October 1, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Louinelson Celian and J.C. Jackson connected against Gulf Coast. The connection was good for 75 yards, the longest such play in 5A District 15 this season.
Immokalee took down the Sharks 35-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Celian threw for 246 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 24 yards in the win.
The Indians' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground D'Ernest Johnson chipped in 121 yards.
Jackson had a great week catching the football as Immokalee topped Gulf Coast. He caught 5 passes for 219 yards.
He went 8-17 with 1 interception.
Jackson was the best receiver in the league this week as Richard Dombroski's team bested Pete Fominaya's team. Jackson tallied 5 receptions for 219 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Taylor Anderson and Isaiah D'Haiti, Golden Gate has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Anderson leads the league in passing with 655 yards, while D'Haiti has rushed for 407 yards this season. The Indians' Jackson leads the league in receiving yards with 261 on 8 catches.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Immokalee takes on second place Golden Gate.
One of 5A District 15's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Titans and Immokalee face off next week.
Next week's game between Golden Gate and the Indians will feature an aerial matchup as Anderson tests his arm against Jackson's defensive ability.
The league will see a high scoring game when Mike DiGrigoli's team and Immokalee face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Titans comes in having scored 77 this season, while the Indians have scored 88.
Immokalee led the league in scoring this week by notching 35 points on the Sharks. Celian ran for 24 yards during the win.
