Beallsville managed to slip by Bridgeport the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Blue Devils came up short against the Bulldogs on Wednesday, falling 18-0. The Blue Devils just can't catch a break and have now endured six defeats in a row.
Beallsville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby McCulley, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Monroe Central posted their closest win since April 8th on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out River 3-2.
Karlie Haslam spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Jadyn Miller was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Brylee McFredrick was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Monroe Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River only posted a batting average of .130.
Monroe Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Beallsville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
Beallsville couldn't quite finish off Monroe Central when the teams last played back in April of 2022 and fell 9-7. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
