Iroquois is 0-10 against Mercyhurst Prep since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Iroquois Braves will head out on the road to face off against the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Iroquois focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
Iroquois suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. Their rough 56-33 loss to North East might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Iroquois has suffered against North East since January 3, 2020.
Despite the loss, Iroquois had strong showings from Devin Brink, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Orlando Brown, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Brink continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Kellen Burroughs was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mercyhurst Prep scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Erie First Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 77-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Iroquois' defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Mercyhurst Prep, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
Iroquois might still be hurting after the 76-52 loss they got from Mercyhurst Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Iroquois was down 41-21.
