Overton is 0-10 against Memphis Central since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Overton Wolverines will head out on the road to challenge the Memphis Central Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Overton's defense has only allowed 24.6 points per game this season, so Memphis Central's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Overton can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 85-13 win over Kingsbury. With that win, Overton brought their scoring average up to 51.4 points per game.
It was another big night for Kierra Baldwin, who scored 27 points along with nine steals. She hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nia Smith, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Memphis Central's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to Memphis East.
Overton's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Memphis Central, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
Overton came up short against Memphis Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 44-31. Can Overton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
