Even though the Mountain Pointe Pride scored an imposing 64 points on Friday, the Higley Knights still came out on top. Higley took their matchup against Mountain Pointe 74-64. Given Higley's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Mountain Pointe is ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Donovan Dabney was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Noah Gloor was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with nine assists.
Higley now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Mountain Pointe, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Higley and Campo Verde will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Mountain Pointe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Willow Canyon at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Willow Canyon's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
