Calvary Christian has won 14 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Lake Region has won 14 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Calvary Christian Warriors will host the Lake Region Thunder at 7:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Calvary Christian's victory against Steinbrenner wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Calvary Christian had just enough and edged out Steinbrenner 3-2 on Tuesday. Calvary Christian hasn't had any issues with Steinbrenner recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Morgen Talley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Calvary Christian let Emma Bell and Claire Caoili run wild. Bell went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Caoili went 1-for-3 with one home run. That triple marked the first that Bell hit this season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lake Region ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over George Jenkins.
Makenna Meadows made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Margaret Jenkins was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.
Lake Region's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Calvary Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Calvary Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Lake Region struggles in that department as they've averaged .356. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Calvary Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Region in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 3-2. Will Calvary Christian repeat their success, or does Lake Region have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
