The Marietta Blue Devils waltzed into their game Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Campbell by a score of 67-54. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, as Marietta did.
Marietta got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayla Day out in front who scored 28 points. Day is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kyann Senior was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Campbell lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brooke Suttle, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. The game was Suttle's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Phillip, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Marietta has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Campbell, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Marietta will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sprayberry at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th. Sprayberry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Marietta is ranked 96th). Campbell will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Lake Norman at 9:45 a.m. on December 20th. Lake Norman has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 597 points over their last eight contests.
