Aztec is 0-10 against Kirtland Central since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Aztec Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Kirtland Central Broncos at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Aztec didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Shiprock, but they still walked away with a 32-28 win.
Nika Mckenzie continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazzlyn Gomez, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Kirtland Central can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They blew past Miyamura 71-28 on the road. The victory was nothing new for Kirtland Central as they're now sitting on four straight.
Aztec pushed their record up to 9-7 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Kirtland Central, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.
Aztec was taken down by Kirtland Central 56-29 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Aztec avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
