Crestwood is on a four-game streak of home wins, while LaBrae is on a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Crestwood Red Devils will finish 2023 at home by hosting the LaBrae Vikings at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Wednesday, Crestwood didn't have too much trouble with Rootstown at home as they won 55-40. Given Crestwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Rootstown is ranked 605th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Crestwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Durham led the charge by scoring 19 points along with five assists and three steals. The contest was Durham's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Charlie Schweickert, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, LaBrae was able to grind out a solid victory over Newton Falls last Tuesday, taking the game 58-48. Despite the win, that was the fewest points LaBrae has scored all season.
Crestwood's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for LaBrae, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
