Basketball Game Preview: Seneca Bobcats vs. Pickens Blue Flame

Seneca is 8-0 against Pickens since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Seneca Bobcats will take on the Pickens Blue Flame at 7:30 p.m. Seneca has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Seneca saw some tournament action last Monday. They claimed a resounding 81-50 win over Belton-Honea Path. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 23 points or more this season.

Stu Finley and Clark Finley were among the main playmakers for Seneca as the former went 9 of 17 on his way to 24 points and eight rebounds and the latter made all 6 shots he took to post 17 points and seven rebounds. Those 17 points gave Clark a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jermaine Miller, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points and three steals.

Seneca smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Pickens can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-37 victory over West Henderson. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Flame have posted since November 28, 2023.

Seneca's record now sits at 9-4. As for Pickens, their record now sits at 3-11.

Seneca didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Pickens in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 45-40 victory. Will Seneca repeat their success, or does Pickens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
