Two dominant guards in Morgan Kimmi and Katelyn Fortune are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Windsor Charter Academy Firebirds will head out on the road to take on the DSST: Cedar Falcons at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Windsor Charter Academy suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were beaten by Highland 68-32. While losing is never fun, Windsor Charter Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Highland is ranked 96th).
Meanwhile, DSST: Cedar had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past Fountain Valley 53-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win DSST: Cedar has posted yet this season.
DSST: Cedar found their leader in underclassman Amaya Paul, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten steals. Paul is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Fortune, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Windsor Charter Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for DSST: Cedar, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Windsor Charter Academy beat DSST: Cedar 30-17 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Windsor Charter Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
