The Farmington River Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Granby Memorial Bears at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Farmington is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Granby Memorial in Connecticut (Farmington is ranked 14th, while Granby Memorial is ranked 80th).
Farmington has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell just short of Conard by a score of 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Farmington has suffered yet this season.
Meanwhile, Granby Memorial's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They fell 75-67 to Windsor Locks. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Farmington has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. As for Granby Memorial, they bumped their record down to 4-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Farmington against Granby Memorial in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 58-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Farmington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
