Northern Guilford (Greensboro, N.C.) beat Rockingham County (Wentworth, N.C.) 42-7 after a strong game from
T.J. Logan, who rushed for four touchdowns. Thanks to the stand out performance the senior now has 23 touchdowns on the season.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Logan in the first quarter, the Nighthawks led 42-0 at the half.
The loss snapped the Cougars' 6-game winning streak.
Hunter Welch played well for Rockingham County. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to five on the year.
RC's lone touchdown came on a 50-yard run by Welch in the fourth quarter.
The Wentworth school came in surrendering 15.8 points per game this season. The Cougars struggled against Northern Guilford, which came in averaging 33.7 points per game. NG came into the game allowing 5.0 points per game. Rockingham County's seven points were well below its season average of 32.9 per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Greensboro school came away with a 42-7 victory.
The loss comes after Rockingham County defeated Eastern Guilford 35-3 last week.
Rockingham County (7-2) goes up against Eastern Alamance in a 3A Mid-State game matchup next week, while Northern Guilford (8-0) locks horns with Morehead also in a 3A Mid-State game.
