The Mercer Island Islanders will head out on the road to square off against the Rainier Beach Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mercer Island is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Mercer Island pushed their score all the way to 60 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Lake Washington by a score of 62-60.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Tristen Cruzen, who scored 17 points. Will Mcdonald was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Rainier Beach lost to Eastside Catholic on the road by a decisive 63-49 margin on Thursday. Rainier Beach has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mercer Island has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. As for Rainier Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.
Mercer Island couldn't quite finish off Rainier Beach in their previous meeting back in February of 2020 and fell 50-48. Can Mercer Island avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
