Loomis Chaffee School waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Taft School Big Red as they made off with a 20-1 win. For the Pelicans, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Big Red walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2015.
Victoria Budarz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Budarz was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Loomis Chaffee School got a massive performance out of Solen Trainor, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That double was Trainor's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Larkyn Domer-Shank, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Loomis Chaffee School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taft School only posted an OBP of .133.
Loomis Chaffee School's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. Looking ahead, Loomis Chaffee School will host Cheshire Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Taft School, they will challenge Greens Farms Academy at 2:30 p.m. on May 10.
