There's no place like home for the Simi Valley Pioneers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 56-47 victory over Moorpark on Wednesday. Given Simi Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Musketeers are ranked 478th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Simi Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryder Mjoen, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Hoffer, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Tyson Howarth and Kian La certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Howarth scored eight points, while La scored eight points.
Simi Valley's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-10. As for Moorpark, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-17.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Simi Valley will square off against the Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Camarillo will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Moorpark, they will head out on the road to square off against the Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Royal is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
