Northeast Guilford entered their tilt with Lexington on Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Lexington Yellowjackets by a score of 81-69. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jaylen Henderson and Kamari McDonald certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Henderson went 7 for 17 on his way to 23 points, while McDonald dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. McDonald continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Naquel Wood, who posted ten points and five steals.

Northeast Guilford's record now sits at 8-1. As for Lexington, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-4.

Northeast Guilford will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against High Point Central at 8:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. One thing working in Northeast Guilford's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Lexington will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against West Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Lexington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.7 points per game this season.
