Basketball Recap: Freeport's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Freeport was the 71-62 winner over North Bay Haven Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Freeport Bulldogs took a 74-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (61), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Freeport lost, don't look at Julius Miles. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 34 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Miles' ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dameyan Martin, who posted 12 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Freeport smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Freeport's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7. As for North Bay Haven Academy, with the victory, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-15.

Freeport will challenge Pensacola Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Bay Haven Academy, they will take on Bozeman at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bozeman will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something North Bay Haven Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
