The Kennedy Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Country Christian Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Country Christian will be up against a hot Kennedy team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over Colton on Monday.
Meanwhile, Country Christian can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They put the hurt on Western Christian with a sharp 19-6 win. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.
Kelsey Mulhern made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Rhoden got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Colvin went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave Colvin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kee Kee Dahlgren, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Country Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matches.
Kennedy pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Country Christian, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-1.
Kennedy couldn't quite get it done against Country Christian in their previous meeting two weeks ago as they fell 6-3. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
