Basketball Recap: Mekhi Anderson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Parkway Northwest

KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy lost to Parkway Northwest back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy walked away with a 66-59 victory over the Parkway Northwest Hoyas. The win was all the more spectacular given KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 491st, while Parkway Northwest is ranked 221st).

KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mekhi Anderson led the charge by shooting 4-for-7 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Anderson's third in a row with at least ten points. Sayid Cooley was another key player, going 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds.

KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Parkway Northwest still got an impressive performance from Kahleem Jordan, who posted 31 points. That was a full 52.5% of Parkway Northwest's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaicir Isaac, who posted 17 points.

KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Parkway Northwest, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy will face off against Philadelphia Military Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 212 points over their last three games. As for Parkway Northwest, they will square off against Franklin Learning Center at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin Learning Center is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.
