The Big Piney Punchers were the 37-34 winner over the Big Horn Rams when they last played one another back in March of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Big Piney fell 64-55 to Big Horn on Saturday. That's two games in a row now that Big Piney has lost by exactly nine points.
Leading Big Horn to victory were Gavin Stafford and Caleb Gibson. Stafford scored 25 points, while Gibson scored 24 points. That's the first time this season that Stafford scored 15 or more points. Caleb Adsit was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Big Piney has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Big Horn, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
Big Piney will be home for the holidays to greet Shoshoni at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Wyoming (Shoshoni is ranked 53rd, while Big Piney is ranked 39th). Big Horn will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pine Bluffs at 11:30 a.m. on January 6, 2024.
