With five scores through the air and another on the ground, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2025 broke the all-time passing touchdown record of 124 that was set in 2016 and the all-time total touchdown record of 151 set in 2004.
The LSU commit tied the passing record with a touchdown pass on the first play of the game, before breaking the record early in the second quarter. His five passing touchdowns puts him at 128 in his career.
Underwood recorded his 151st career touchdown with less than a minute left in the first half. He came out firing in the second half and chucked a touchdown from midfield on the first play of the third quarter. That score was the 152nd total touchdown to break the record set by running back Kevin Grady Jr. of
East Grand Rapids (Grand Rapids, Mich.) in 2004. Grady set the record of 151 total touchdowns before playing collegiately at Michigan from 2005-09.
In his first two years as starting quarterback, Underwood helped the Tigers win back-to-back state championships while taking home MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year. He threw 39 touchdowns as a freshman and 37 as a sophomore. As a junior, the Tigers fell 36-32 in the state championship as Underwood ended the season with 44 passing touchdowns.
