On Tuesday, the Regis Jesuit Raiders faced the Cherry Creek Bruins in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Regis Jesuit fell to Cherry Creek 60-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hana Belibi, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Coryn Watts, who scored 19 points.
Cherry Creek was led to victory by A'neya Chambers and Tianna Chambers. Chambers scored 19 points, while Chambers scored 23 points along with three steals. The contest was Chambers' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Addy Beck was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
This is the second loss in a row for Regis Jesuit and nudges their season record down to 7-5. As for Cherry Creek, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Regis Jesuit will head out on the road to face off against Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chaparral is on a three-game streak of home wins, Regis Jesuit a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Cherry Creek will take on Doherty at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Doherty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Cherry Creek is ranked fourth).
