South Portland scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Portland, 19-6. At the time, the Bulldogs were ranked fifth in the state, while the Red Riots were 54th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to South Portland, who took down fifth ranked Portland, 19-6.
Scarborough's Dillon Russo and Greg Viola have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading A Southern Maine in both passing and receiving yards. Russo has thrown for 973 yards this season, while Viola, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 16 catches for 337 yards. Deering's Ken Sweet leads the league in rushing yards with 1171.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Windham and the Bulldogs. The Eagles enters the contest ranked 17th in the state, while Portland ranks 16th.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Rams take on Cheverus. Deering's offense has recorded 207 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Stags have permitted only 48 on the year.
Cheverus extended the longest winning streak in A Southern Maine this week by beating the Rams, 21-0. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
