Shawe Memorial hasn't had much luck against Oldenburg Academy recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Hilltoppers will take on the Twisters at 11:00 a.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Shawe Memorial is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Crothersville 13-3. The Hilltoppers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Tyler Hill was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Shawe Memorial is 2-1 when Hill posts two or more runs, but 0-17 otherwise.

In other batting news, Shawe Memorial got a massive performance out of Traevin Liston, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Liston a new career-high. Cavaan Hambrick also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Shawe Memorial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Oldenburg Academy posted their closest victory since April 22nd on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Milan. The Twisters haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Jacob Stenger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Adam Weber, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Juston Dietz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
The win made it two in a row for Shawe Memorial and bumps their season record up to 2-18. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Oldenburg Academy, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Shawe Memorial might still be hurting after the 18-0 defeat they got from Oldenburg Academy in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Hilltoppers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
