Basketball Recap: Ethan Isom Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat South Lake

Lake Minneola was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against South Lake on Friday. Everything went the Lake Minneola Hawks' way against the South Lake Eagles as the Lake Minneola Hawks made off with a 69-45 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 59-43 back in December of 2024.

Lake Minneola's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Isom, who made all 6 shots he took from beyond the arc for 19 points. That's the most points Isom has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brandon Colbert, who made all 7 shots he took to post 15 points.

Despite the loss, South Lake still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Pina, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 13 rebounds. Pina's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Pina, who posted four points and 15 rebounds.

Lake Minneola's record now sits at 11-7. As for South Lake, they dropped their record down to 9-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Lake Minneola didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-34 loss against Apopka on the 14th. As for South Lake, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-33 victory against Wildwood on the 14th.
