After a string of three wins, the Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gilbert. The loss put an end to Academy of Science and Innovation's undefeated start to the season.
Academy of Science and Innovation lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Phoebe Candy, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and six blocks. Candy has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Symber Ortiz-Sutton, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Academy of Science and Innovation's loss dropped their record down to 11-1. As for Gilbert, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Academy of Science and Innovation will face off against Capital Prep/Classical Magnet at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gilbert, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wamogo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
